Tom Tone Checkmate Boost Overdirive

Checkmate produces classic, creamy distortion with fully dynamic and intuitive controls. The Tone control produces great low-end frequencies, and the high end section really adds a nice glow to the sound, with no brittleness.

Whatever sound you need for your project, this pedal can provide the right distortion for the task, just not recommend it for extreme metal sounds. Its distortion ranges from softer blues to heavy hard rock sound. By reducing its gain, the descent is gradual for a natural sounding overdrive to a clean and slightly compressed sound, perfect for the blues and expressive enough to play them with refinement and elegance.

But what makes Checkmate a special pedal is its Boost mode which produces a great Mid-Low boost for solos, or if you just want more gain in your drive. This Mid Booster can be adjusted via an internal control (opening the back cover) - at its maximum, the Boost switch is capable of producing 10 dB of Mid-Low gain.
