Kala KA-GL 6 String Guitarlele, Satin

The instrument box was shipped in an Amazon box loose fit. (I dont know if they hand it out to Amazon) The instrument box was just thrown in so it was open and the ukulele was just banging around. It survived OK. Glad it was USPS at least. I had two choices the Gretsch or the Kala one. Kala has a good name also so I went with it. Its all laminate which is fine. I replaced the strings right away with some Daddario normal tension classical strings as that's what I had sitting around. Oiled up the dry fret board and that was it. I don't know how it is suppose to sound but its a little classical, a little ukulele, and my girlfriend says mandolin'ish. So three in one. Most of my chords will be at the first frets. A bit cramped but not as bad as I thought it might be. I have larger hands. At least not like a mandolin thankfully. If I don't hammer away on it it sounds better. Songs so far are: Margaritaville, Sultans of Swing, Guitar Gently Weeps Keep in mind if you sing Margaritaville in key of D you will be singing higher if you use a D chord shape. Use an A chord shape and you will be in the key of D. It's not something I would gig with but if you go to a party where there are a bunch of guitars jamming you don't need another guitar in the circle. Be different. It's kinds addictive playing it. Service was great here so no complaints.
